Anniversary

I can’t believe I’m saying this but I am, HAPPY ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY, HONEY! I remember being in high school and having the biggest crush on you… 5 years later, here we are. It’s been a whole year of laughs, love, Netflix, and ramen noodles. I love falling asleep beside you and waking up next to you (even to your cute snore). I love that you always laugh at my guyish sense of humor. I love your ungodly thick black hair, I hope our kids get it one day. Thank you for being my rock and working so hard for our family this year. Thank you for always giving me compliments even when I never know how to take one. The best thing I ever did was marry you. I love you.

Check out our wedding video. I LOVE IT 🙂

Smells like Christmas!

This is the time of year that I get to bake… A LOT! My house smells like Christmas! And my severe allergies are kicking in. We decorated our little home and bought our first Christmas tree this weekend which was so exciting. Besides all of the fun that the holidays bring, there’s a bigger story. I”m constantly reminded of the Gospel around this time of year as families gather to celebrate the holidays, as I buy gifts for others, and Christmas songs are everywhere I go. It’s the message of what is good and precious in life can not be lost. When I feel like everything is slipping through my fingers, I’m reminded that it’s all restored in Jesus.“God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons” [Gal 4:5]. I’m keeping this verse very close.

Turkey Day

It was my first Thanksgiving as a Cruz this year which was pretty exciting. I went up to Orlando which is a tradition for the Cruz’s every Thanksgiving. I met my beautiful baby cousin Benjamin who I absolutely adore! He just had a small surgery but it didn’t stop him from being so darn cute and blowing bubbles. I also got to spend time with my cousins which is always a pleasure. We’re all still getting to know each other since I’m the newbie but Josh’s side of the family has welcomed me with open arms and I love them for that. I missed my mom and brothers this year but they were enjoying themselves in NY so I’m pretty sure they were just fine ;). Is it possible to gain 10 pounds in a period of 1 hour? I think it happened after my 3rd plate of food and coffee.

I had the pleasure of taking a few photos of my brother and sis in law ;).

Love love love them.

Well Hello There

I’m back! It’s been a while friends. I’ve recently started school! I’m so excited to get back into it and get that “papelito” in 2 years. I think I’m going to major in Graphic Design. The scary part is that I don’t know anything about editing or graphics but I enjoy it, if that makes sense. My husband is also getting back into school so it’s pretty hectic in the cruz household. Working full time (sometimes overtime), school, church, and sharing a car can be difficult but we’re making it work. I can’t complain because our schedules are around the same time so there isn’t much conflict which makes it easier. It beats him working at Starbucks full time and having another part time church job that completely conflict my work schedule so we barely saw each other. God has provided an easy schedule for us so f you ever catch me complaining, I give you permission to slap me. Jk, don’t.

Life sometimes can be somewhat of a routine in order to keep track of it all but we’re trying to be more spontaneous on our days off and not be such couch potatoes. I blame it on Netlflix (Animal Hoarders, Grey’s Anatomy, Family Guy, Scrubs, Parks & Recreation). We woke up this Saturday morning and decided to go to Coral Gables (it’s hotter than the devils crotch outside though).

We should’ve brought deodorant. TMI?

I decided to surprise Josh when he got home from work. Mission accomplished :).

DYI Dyed Jeans

I decided to dye these skinny jeans I had which is pretty simple but quiet messy. I had to bleach it at first which was the hardest part in my opinion. You can check it out on Youtube for instructions on how to bleach and not damage your jeans. Bleach can eat up the fabric if you don’t do it properly so I don’t want to be at fault if that happens lol.

Buy RIT dye (color of your choice) at Publix, Walmart etc. I filled the bucket with hot water and I poured half of the RIT package inside. Put as much dye as you want inside the water but I would suggest to start with less and work your way up to the color that you like as you dip in your clothing item. Stir to make sure the dye is mixed in well inside the water. Put your jeans inside the bucket and leave it in for at least 10 min.

Then I dipped the pants inside and out of the bucket for a good 10 min to avoid spotting . I left the pants in the bucket for 5-10 more min just to make sure the jeans soaked up the dye. Once I was done with that, I rinsed my jeans a few times in water to take the extra dye out before washing it. You can use the sink or the bucket to rinse with clean water. Finally, I was done! You wash the jeans in the washer by it self using light detergent and to dry it, you either air dry or use the dryer.

I’m definitely happy with my new colored skinny jeans 🙂

And here it is…

Here’s the guy that I share my life with.

The one that constantly wants to watch Family Guy. The one that loves burgers like no ones business. The one that fills awkward moments with quotes from the movie Talladega Nights. Yeah that guy.

DIY Birdcage Veil

Hello future Brides-to-be! One of the most important part of your wedding is your veil. Your groom and guests will see you wear it, it will also appear in your wedding video and pictures FOREVER, no biggy. Usually wedding veils range from $70-$200. I had a strict budget when it came to my wedding accessories, but in the end, everything worked out and looked more expensive than it really was. I bought 2 feet of white Russian veiling from Joann Fabrics ($5). I found this silver toned rose pin with clear rhinestones all over on etsy.com ($25). Of course the purpose of the rose pin was to pin it on your clothes but It was too cute to ignore it as a possible hair accessory. I super glued the rose pin onto the veil so it could give it some vintage glam. If you don’t want to go over $30 for a birdcage veil, all you really need is a piece of veil, any hair piece of your liking, plastic hair clip, and fabric glue. You’ll be surprised how pricey a simple veil can be just because of a little piece that’s attached to it. Your wallet (& fiance) will love you for your creativity.
